Vincy play makes history in New York

The popular Vincentian hit comedy drama “Tables Will Turn” was the only other production second in line to a previously held Luther Vandros concert to completely sell out the famous black historical Paul Robeson Theater in New York.

Hundreds of Vincentians and other Caribbean nationals living in New York and as far away as Texas, Miami, Boston and Washington DC were treated to an evening of spectacular live theater last Friday evening by the Jems Theater Company. The sold audience could be heard laughing and having a wonderful time from the moment the curtain went up.{{more}}

Tables will Turn is written by Vincentian playwright Jerol Huggins-Jackson and features an all-star cast of celebrated Vincentian actors and actresses. The cast line-up is comprised of Franklyn “MaxE” Edwards, Bernadette Bristol, Mitzi Chandler, Delano Joseph and Mirissa Samuel. The production was proudly sponsored by Square Deal Shippers.

Due to popular demand the play will be staged on November 11th at the Paul Robeson Theater. There will be two shows, one at 4 pm and another at 8 pm, in an effort to accommodate the high demand.

Additional performances are slated for St.Vincent and the Grenadines, Montréal, Toronto and England.

JEMS Theater Company is the cultural and performing arts body within the JEMS Progressive Community Organization.
