Changes to UK Visa regulations

UK Immigration Authorities recently announced that all non-visa, non-EEA (European Economic Area) nationals coming to the UK for more than six months are required to obtain ‘Entry Clearance’ before they travel. Students in particular should take careful note of this new requirement.

The requirements for persons wishing to visit the UK for six months or less remain unchanged, that is, visas are not mandatory.

We would however suggest that persons who have previously been refused a visa for, or entry to, the UK or another country may consider applying for ‘Entry Clearance’ to ascertain if they qualify for entry to the UK before they travel. Please note that persons who arrive in the UK as visitors may not later ‘switch’ their immigration status while they are in the UK.
