Bruce resigns, Horne to run

Israel Bruce has resigned as PRO of the New Democratic Party (NDP). This was confirmed by newly appointed PRO of the party, Senator St. Claire Leacock.

Speaking to Searchlight on Tuesday, Senator Leacock said that Bruce’s resignation took effect last Thursday, July 11. {{more}}

Bruce, who has been in Canada for the last six weeks or so, has, according to Leacock, decided to “pursue his self development, most likely in the field of law.”

Bruce, a former President of the National Youth Council, had publicly expressed his interest in contesting the South Central Leeward Constituency for the NDP, and according to Leacock, was one of the “potential candidates.” However, he will not be realising that potential, at least, not this time around.

The new PRO, who took up the post on Friday, July 12, has confirmed that the person whose name will appear next to the NDP’s symbol, the key, in the upcoming General Elections in that constituency is UK-based lawyer, Brereton Horne.
