Bequia Fisheries Centre reopens

The Bequia Fisheries Centre reopened on Friday 5th August after being refurbished to meet international trade standards.

The project was funded by the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines at a cost of $1,839,761. {{more}}The centre was designed to enable the export of fish and fishery products to international markets, including the European Union, under high sanitary and phytosanitary standards.

The refurbished facility includes a desalination unit, a tank for live lobsters, safety and sanitary equipment, and storage and processing facilities for lobster, conch and fish.

The opening ceremony included addresses from officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves gave the feature address.
