DeRiggs states that: “It will give us a mobile capability now. The equipment has the flexibility to be deployed from a boat or land base.”
The RRL trains communities in which these transceivers will be placed on emergency message handling. This includes radio etiquette, how to make antennas, and the maintenance of the equipment.
On the recent donation of this high-tech radio, DeRiggs remarks: “Cable & Wireless as a communications company has seen it important to invest in the vital area of emergency communications.
âWe would like to thank Cable & Wireless management for their continued generosity as this piece of equipment will be a part of an island-wide wireless network.”
