Taiwan Trade Fair a feature at Vincy Mas

The Taiwanese took centre-stage during the final run up to Vincy Mas festivities with the staging of a trade fair and the launch of the Taiwan-Caribbean website.

The Taiwan Trade Fair opened Monday 27 at the Peace Memorial Hall with several short addresses. {{more}}

Deputy Prime Minister Louis Straker, filled in for the absent Dr. Ralph Gonsalves who was in Cuba. Addresses were also heard from Minister of Foreign Affairs Mike Browne, Ambassador Elizabeth Chu, and Jeffery Providence, who filled in for President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Martin Bollers.

Following the closed door opening ceremony, guests were invited to view the exhibits which ranged from the latest high tech mobile phones and laptop and desktop computers all made in Taiwan to washing machines, dried fruit and other confectionery and assorted office supplies.

Later that day the Taiwan-Caribbean website was launched with a simple ceremony at the New Haddon Hotel with the presence of regional media from Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and he USA.

The website showcases the links between Taiwan and the Caribbean through news, editorials, audio and video clips, photo galleries and offers links to other websites with information on Taiwan.
