Inspector Phipps killed in St. Kitts

Former Inspector Hubert Phipps, the popular policeman who once served in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been murdered in St. Kitts.

The St.Kitts Nevis Sun reported that “Shock waves hit the Federation of St. Kitts/Nevis as the news of the death of popular businessman and ex-policeman Hubert Phipps raced through the streets.”{{more}}

Former Drill Inspector Phipps, was the owner of a business establishment called “Trade Link” located on the Bay Road in Basseterre, St.Kitts. The Sun report said that Phipps’ body was found in his Wades Garden Home at about 7:30 on the morning of Thursday, 23 June, with an injury to the back of his head. It said unconfirmed reports suggested that Phipps was attacked at his home and killed as a resulted of a suspected robbery attempt.

The Office of the Commissioner of Police in St. Kitts Nevis was treating the matter as a homicide and said it was seeking international assistance in solving the crime.

Phipps was remembered in St.Vincent as a dapper dresser and a no-nonsense yet beloved drill inspector who worked with the then St.Vincent Boys’ Grammar School Cadet Corps.
