Only two weeks ago, the company announced that it had acquired competitor Cingular Wireless, the former AT&T Wireless in the region.

Digicel boasts of having increased its reach across the region to fifteen countries with the acquisition of Curacao Telecom. The company also reports of having been successful “in a highly competitive spectrum auction” which it said would enable it to operate a mobile network in the much sought after Trinidad and Tobago market.

Digicel’s main competitior Cable & Wireless operates in that market

through its 49 percent shareholding in Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT).

Digicel Group Marketing Director Den Atherton has said that as the company grows it wants to ensure “a consistent, bold look and feel to the brand across the region, so customers can instantly recognize and choose the Digicel brand, with its promise of superior network, customer care, and great value.”

He said the evolution was timely as they prepare to enter seven new countries.
