A very upset Selmon Walters has lashed out at Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace for statements which the minister calls total untruth. {{more}}

This comes less than a week after an article appeared in The Vincentian newspaper which quoted Eustace as saying that Walters, the Minister of Social Development, Co-operatives, Family, Gender and Ecclesiastical Affairs had sacked a Port Authority guard for listening to the New Democratic Party’s E.G. Lynch’s talk show carried on Nice Radio, while on the job,

“That’s ridiculous!” Walters said on Wednesday, June 8, referring to Eustace’s charge made at a Brooklyn town hall meeting two weeks ago.

“He is misled or downright dishonest,” said Walters of Eustace, the president of the opposition NDP.

Walters said he wished to state there is “absolutely no truth in the accusation.”

He pointed out, “It cannot be, as I am not the minister with responsibility for the Port, neither am I the Chairman or Manager”.

The minister further stated he did not know who the security person at the Port was or what were the person’s terms of employment.

“Certainly, Mr.Eustace who claims to be a Christian gentleman should know better than to be so dishonest or mislead in his utterances,” said Walters.

Walters said he was very disturbed about the matter and, in the event an apology is not forthcoming, he would have to decide whether to take legal action.
