Belle Isle prison underway

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, National Security Minister Sir Vincent Beache, Superintendent of Prisons Eric Rodriguez and other prison officials paid a visit this Tuesday 14 June to the site of the new prison being constructed at Belle Isle Hill. {{more}}The new facility, nestled in the highland region of North Leeward, is set against the background of the Soufriere mountains.

The facility, large enough to cater all the prisoners currently incarcerated at the two old facilities in Kingstown. It will provide for new programme aimed at the rehabilitation of inmates. Completion date is set for 2006.
