NCB overstaffed
There may be too many persons working at the National Commercial Bank. Thatâs according to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

The Prime Minister, speaking in the context of the success of the Small Enterprise Loan Scheme disclosed that 210 loans had been made under that arrangement and 400 persons had been employed as a result.
But he chided the NCB for their attitude to the Small Loans. According to the Prime Minister, the staff at NCB âdonât like small loans.â
He however took issue with them: âI donât see why they complain. They are overstaffed by 20 per cent,â Dr. Gonsalves said.
Dr. Gonsalves also commended the pay back rate with the delinquency of 30 per cent, which he said was âcomparatively good.â
He also swiped at those who looked down on loans for small businesses. He referred to what he termed the âclass natureâ of some people who, after they have made it, forget from whence they came.
