CARICOM states move to establish CCJ
âThere is as yet no indication that the Privy Councilâs ruling on Jamaicaâs legislation introducing the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) would delay the establishment of the Court by CARICOM Governmentsâ. So said CARICOM Secretary-General when asked today about the ruling of the Privy Council. {{more}}
He also informed that the Jamaican Government is studying the ruling with a view to determining its options.
âThis Item is certain to pre-occupy the Communityâs Attorneys-General when they meet next week 10-11 February 2005 in Paramaribo, Suriname at the Legal Affairs Committee Meetingâ, said the Secretary-General.
âIn the meantimeâ, assured the Secretary-General âthe CARICOM Secretariat will continue working towards the establishment of the Court, as scheduled.â
