Local charities benefit from ROC donation

Eleven local charities have benefited from donation made by The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) at a ceremony January 18 at the Old Public Library. {{more}}

The recipients were VINSAVE, The Salvation Army, the Lions Club South, the St. Vincent Rotary Club, the YWCA, the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, the St. Vincent Red Cross Society, the St. Thankful Baptist Church, the Daughters of Mary, the Sandy Bay Gospel Chapel and the Higher Lowmans Spiritual Baptist Church.

Minister of Social Development, Selmon Walters thanked Ambassador Elizabeth Chu and her Taiwanese counterparts for their contribution in the fight against poverty in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He emphasised that the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines would continue to give its support to the Government and People of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Chu conveyed the love of the people of her country and stressed that St. Vincent and the Grenadines was not just an ally of Taiwan but has become family. She said her country was happy to help the organisations and will continue to lend support to Vincentians for as long as possible.

The representatives of the different organisations and charities conveyed their thanks to the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and their counterparts in New York for their continued generosity.
