Man shot on minibus

With a report of a shooting, the year 2005 has regretfully begun in much the same view as it ended here in St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

Wednesday night we learnt that a young man Atiba Gaymes was shot in the shoulder while travelling on the minibus Busta. {{more}}

Reports are that the public transport vehicle was stopped on the road in the Foutain area when Gaymes received the gunshot wound.

Up till press time he was at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing wounds that were described by a source as superficial. This time this victim was lucky.

The omnibus Busta was being detained at the Central Police Station while Calliaqua Police carried out investigations into the incident.

This was the first reported shooting for 2005. Last year, this country reported a record 28 murders, many of them gunshot victims.
