Election court fight in St Kitts

The opposition People’s Action Movement (PAM) in St. Kitts and Nevis has filed petitions challenging the results in three constituencies in last month’s general elections.

The party won only one seat while the Labour Party won the other seven in the polls in the elections which were held on October 25. {{more}}

PAM leader Lindsay Grant wants the results from three constituencies overturned, including the one in which he lost his seat.

He alleged that bribery, corruption and other irregularities tainted the polls.

If the court rules in PAM’s favour, it will not affect the balance of power in St. Kitts and Nevis but Grant believes more members of the opposition in Parliament will be essential if electoral reform is to be undertaken.
