Students register for CXC

Persons wishing to sit the May/June 2004 Caribbean Examinations Council exams still have time to register although the registration date has passed.

A ministry official said that the registration date was last Friday (November 5), but persons have until today (November 12) to register for exams. {{more}}However, if applicants do not register by December 15, which is the CXC deadline, a late fee of EC$35.10 will be charged. The late fee becomes applicable after the CXC deadline.

Over 900 persons have so far signed up, but education officials expect more.

As if complimenting the Government’s stress on education, a ministry official said that unlike most other islands there is no additional fee for registration, while other countries charge fees for administrative expenses which are not added into the exam fee.

The Ministry of Education, who is at this point electronically processing sign-ups in order to meet the CXC December 15 deadline, has observed a substantial increase in private candidates.

Last year, 2464 candidates signed up; 1447 were school children.
