Philatelic launches stamps

At a special ceremony held at the Peace Memorial Hall, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Philatelic Corporation released a collection of 14 stamps featuring a number of outstanding Vincentians. The stamps feature long distance runner Pamenos Ballantyne, ace football star Rodney Chang Jack, renowned cricketer Winston Davis and outstanding netballer Halima De Shong. {{more}}

In the area of culture, poet and dramatist Cecil Blazer Williams and 2003 Miss Carival and Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines Shevorn Peters are featured as well as National Hero Joseph Chatoyer, Captain Hugh Mulzac and George McIntosh.

The National Bird, Amazona guildiingi, the breadfruit, the National Flag and past prime ministers Ebenezer Joshua and Robert Milton Cato, are also featured on the stamps.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Lady Sally-Ann Ballantyne were presented with a collection of the stamps. The Corporation plans to release another collection of stamps in March 2005.
