Beryl Richards, chairperson of the Association, welcomed all present and reminded them that in the nearly 60 years of existence the Music Association has consistently targeted the youth in its development programmes, and noted that many accomplished local musicians and useful citizens of today had their early nurturing through some of these programmes.

Jameisha Byron and Victor Job received distinctions for the highest marks in practical piano, 2004, for Grades 1 to 4, and Grades 5 to 8, respectively; Job also received a special prize for gaining distinctions in Grade VII piano and Grade III clarinet, and for attaining the highest mark overall.

The next National Music Festival is scheduled to take place from March 6 to March 20, 2005, and all present were urged to begin preparations.
