Joeanna places second in Nevis calypso show
Local reigning calypso queen Joeana “Nubian Princess” Christopher placed second in the Caribbean Calypso Queen contest in Nevis last Wednesday.
Christopher was invited by the Nevis Culturama Festival to take part in the competition and was only outdone by Trinidad and Tobago’s Stacy Sobers. A representative from St. Maarten was third.
She competed with her 2017 song “Where all my good friends gone?”
“I feel good to see that I came here, and the crowd took to me. The crowd shouted for me from start to finish and I felt like I was from there,” Christopher told SEARCHLIGHT on Thursday, one day after competing.
Christopher added that she has been asked to perform on Saturday night during another show. She returns home on Monday August 7.
Christopher’s trip was facilitated by this country’s Carnival Development Corporation (CDC).
