IT-DAT Academy revise five KFC Relays’ records
The IT-DAT Academy has established five new meet records at the KFC Relays, hosted last Saturday at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in Grenada.
The new marks were in the menâs distance medley relay, the menâs 4 x 200m, the sprint medley open, the menâs open and the 4 x 200m womenâs Under-20.
IT-DATâs reset of the menâs distance medley saw the quartet of Colin Roach, Akani Slater,âOJ Jackson and Aravinda Shallow clocking 10 minutes 28.88 seconds.
This beat St David Trail Blazersâ time of 10 minutes 41.30 seconds, established in 2013.
The same four IT-DAT athletes revised the 4 x 200m to 1 minute 27.50 seconds, bettering the 1 minute 28.79 seconds, ran in 2017 by Ace.
IT-DATâs quartetâs 1 minute 30.73 seconds in the over-20 sprint relay erased Aceâs 2008 mark of 1 minute 32.70 seconds.
Also falling by the wayside was the menâs 4 x 400m, as IT-DAT Academy has the new record of 3 minutes 14.57 seconds, making Wester Hallâs 3 minutes 18.00 seconds no more the best time.
On the female side, Tamara Woodley, Annecia Ricahrds, Lafesha France and Darria Mathias clocked 1 minute 43.09 seconds in the 4 x 200m, breaking a 10-year record of 1 minute 45.80 seconds, set by St David Catholic.
Woodley, Richards, France and Mathias placed first also in the womenâs Under-20 sprint medley and the womenâs Under-20 4 x 100m, clocking 1 minute 48.20 seconds and 49. 35 seconds, respectively.
IT-DAT was second in the womenâs distance medley, in 14 minutes 01.20 seconds and finished sixth in the 4 x 100m menâs open.
The St Vincent Grammar School and the X-Cel Track Club were the other Vincentian teams participating in the relays.
The St Vincent Grammar Schoolâs best efforts were in the menâs Under-20, placing second in 44.13 seconds and third in the 4 x 200m, with a time of 1 minute 32.44 seconds.
X-Cel Track Club was second in the 4 x 100m menâs 20-and-over in 42.73 seconds and third in the menâs open 4 x 400m, timing 3 minutes 23.75 seconds.
