Vincentian basketballer continues to excel in Germany

Vincentian Verdine Warner was named the Eurobaske.com Bundesliga Player of the Week for round 15.

Warner, 24, who plays for second-ranked team Goettingen, had a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds, while her team crushed B Loewen with a 23-point margin, 78-55.

Goettingen maintains the second position in their group in the German league with a 13-3 win/loss record. Warner has turned out to be Goettingen’s top player in her first season with the team.

A Shaw University graduate, Warner has very impressive stats this year. She leads the league in rebounds, with an average of 14.5 rebounds per game.

She is also among the league’s top in and averages solid 1.2 blocks per game and 53.4 per cent field goal percentage.

The Player of the Week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also includes game result, importance of the game, if player recorded double-double/triple-double.
