Vincentian teacher launches colouring book series
In order to offset the costs associated with attaining a bachelor’s degree, an enterprising Vincentian has decided to launch a colouring book series.
Suzette Sandy, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT last Thursday, said that apart from its income earning potential, the project appeals to her creativity.
“What inspired me to do it too, I am a very creative person; I do bags and so on, but now I am studying I don’t do those things anymore…,” the kindergarten teacher explained.
Sandy noted that the books were developed mainly for children at the primary and pre-school levels; however, she has plans to create a series for secondary school children.
“…What I did in order to create them, I used animation characters. We know today that children love animation characters, ranging from Dora, Peppa Pig and Mickey Mouse… not only that, I integrated the letters of the alphabet along with the images as well.”
She said as a teacher, she uses the books as teaching aids, since children learn differently.
“I find that is a good way to use the drawing books.”
Sandy noted that during the early stages of children’s development they love to draw and scribble, as they develop their fine motor skills and the books are a way to assist with this type of development.
The colouring books are just $5 each and persons interested in purchasing a book may contact Sandy at 496-9114. (CM)
