Vincentian appointed as Corporate Communications Manager of LIAT
A Vincentian has been appointed to the post of Corporate Communications Manager of regional airline LIAT.
Shavar Maloney, who up to last month was a lecturer in the Department of Business and General Studies at the Division of Technical and Vocational Education of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) took up duties at the airline’s headquarters in Antigua yesterday.
In 2013, Maloney graduated from the University of the West Indies (Mona) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Communications with First Class Honours.
Maloney is no stranger to the inner workings of LIAT, having previously been employed with the company on two separate occasions. Prior to leaving to study, Maloney worked from 2007 to 2010 at LIAT here in St Vincent as a customer service agent and again from July 2013 to August 2013 as a baggage agent.
He also worked as a customer service agent at Vincy Aviation Services from April 2006 to November 2007; as an administrative assistant with the Diocese of Kingstown and as a relief teacher at the Carapan Secondary School for 11 months from September 2004.
As Corporate Communications manager, Maloney succeeds Barbadian Desmond Brown whose last day on the job was in June 2016.
In a post on his Facebook page yesterday, Maloney said “… I am happy to inform you that I have accepted a position at LIAT(1974) Ltd as Corporate Communications Manager. I look forward to working with LIAT and ensuring that you the travelling public have a great experience.”
