On September 25, Skinny will perform at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Jamaica, on the same stage as artistes including âLady Sawâ, âBugleâ, âMr Killaâ and âAssassinâ.
Operations commercial manager at the St Vincent Brewery Limited Shafia London-Williams said on Wednesday during a press conference that Guinness beer owner Diageo PLC asked for recommendations from the various breweries and the St Vincent Brewery Limited recommended Skinny.
âWe are very happy that they (Diageo) recognize the value of the regional artistes and he (Skinny) is our very own and we were proud to put his name forward,â said London-Williams.
She said that Skinny was chosen because of his regional success.
The AGD concert Jamaica will be broadcast live during a simulcast, which is expected to be viewed by over one million persons worldwide, including persons who will gather at the Solidarity Inc car park locally for AGD celebrations.
âHe has promised to shout us out. Regionally Skinny is representing us in a very big way. Every country you go to, his music is on the charts, either in the top 10 or number one,â said London-Williams.
âWe are very proud of him. We are proud of our other artistes as well, but at the same time we would have recommended him because we felt that he had the regional reach and impact at this moment,â said London-Williams, who stressed that in her opinion, âif he can do it, other artistes should be able do it.â
On Wednesday via Whatsapp, Skinny said that the AGD concert Jamaica is a very big event with big acts and a wide range of talented performers, âso Iâm honoured to be part of it to be honest.â
He added, âpersons can expect the type of performance I usually give, a high energy soca performance, Vincy style.â
Skinny is also scheduled to perform in Barbados on September 27th, during that countryâs Guinness celebrations at the Kensington Oval.
