Bikini Babes apologize for explicit displays at show
The contestants of the Miss Bikini Babes 2014 have apologized to organizers for their raunchy behaviour during a section of the event last Saturday.
The show, which was held for the second time and geared at female empowerment, featured a judged introduction section where the girls appeared in futuristic wear, {{more}}two sections of swimwear and a lingerie section.
When each contestant appeared on stage in lingerie, patrons had a front row view to striptease-like routines where the contestants left little to the imagination with seductive dancing on their male props.
Organizer and coach, Joanna Christopher told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday that she was extremely disappointed with the presentation of this section by the contestants.
She explained that neither she nor any of the other organizers had any input in the preparation of the lingerie section presentations that were displayed on the night of the show.
âI, personally was very disappointed. As an organizer, I would not organize somebody to behave like that, though we said it was going to be erotic. I wasnât expecting the girls to carry on like this. I was disappointed. I couldnât even function. It was too much,â she said.
âThe men loved it. There were lots of people who applauded that but not me. That really brings down my level of class and how I trained people to work.â
During the show, a number of patrons, mainly men, were observed videotaping the performances with excited looks on their faces.
Christopher revealed that at the end of the show, she expressed her disappointment to the girls, who in turn apologized and stated that although they were told to be âfreakyâ, they did not understand what they should have done.
During the show on Saturday, a female patron also expressed her disappointment with that particular section of the show, stating that the girls lacked class and confidence.
Last week, organizers stressed that because of the nature of the pageant, it was rated PG-13.
However, the patron also expressed disappointment in that area, noting that parents allowed their teenage children to come to a show which was clearly not suited for them.
âLook at the children. [They are] paying very much attention to all these things, sexual things,â she said. âThe show is not nice at all.â
Despite these mishaps, there was an exceptional turnout at the event and Christopher deemed the night a success.
Miss Candy Cane, Shantous Delplesche of Barrouallie, was crowned queen and walked away with Best Introduction and Best Swimwear for both categories.
First runner-up was awarded to Miss Whipped Cream, Condesha Antoine, who tied with the queen for the Best Introduction and was also adjudged to be Most Photogenic and Miss Congeniality.
The second runner-up position was presented to Miss Honey, Onikha Mason, who also received the Best Lingerie category.
Organizers would like to express thanks to entities that made the event possible, which included Carib Beer, Just Right and Gonsalves Liquors, who provided some of the gifts that were given on the night of the show.(BK)
