‘Guinness Posse T-Shirt’ Band ready for the road – London-Williams

Operations Commercial manager at the St Vincent Brewery Limited Shafia London-Williams says that the all-inclusive drinks special at the Calypso semi-finals was a hit with patrons, and the Brewery is ready, once again, to give revellers something else to remember this Carnival.{{more}}

“Fantastic Friday July 27 was a hit despite the rain. Patrons took advantage of the drinks special and now that is over, our next focus is on giving persons who choose to party with us during the Monday evening T-shirt street party an experience they will never forget,” said London-Williams on Tuesday from her Campden Park based office.

She added that the Brewery was happy to team up with the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) to allow persons to pay EC$30 to have an unlimited amount of any product produced by the Brewery.

“Now with that out of the way, we are now focusing on our big black Guinness truck which will be on the road Carnival Monday”, said London-Williams who stressed, “we are ready for the road…this is the first time that the Brewery is taking part in the Monday T-shirt band party, but we are going to make it an epic experience for persons.”

She added that apart from local hit makers ‘DJ 20’, Keith Currency, ‘Royal’ and ‘Problem Child’, Trinidadian soca artiste Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart will join local acts onboard the St Vincent Brewery’s big black Guinness branded truck on Carnival Monday, July 7.

Blaxx’s hits include his 2007 song ‘Dutty,’ while he has taken 2014 by storm with ‘Leh go,’ which was a song in the finals of Trinidad’s soca monarch competition.

London-Williams said that Blaxx will perform alongside a number of local superstar artistes and DJs which include the Hyperactive Movement, Simple Sounds, DJ Kal, DJ Tarrus and the Energy Squad (DJ Captain Jon and Columbian).

Marketing assistant at the Brewery Caricia Taylor said that the Brewery’s band is called ‘The Guinness Posse T-Shirt Band…from the stands to the streets’ and has as its slogan: “We have one big bad black truck on the road.”

Persons who play with the band are being offered three packages, while the band is expected to hit the road at 2 p.m. and leave the streets at 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, London-Williams has congratulated the artistes that will come up against Shernelle ‘Skarpyon’ Williams in the National Calypso Finals this Sunday, July 6 at Dimanche Gras.

The 10 calypsonians are Robert ‘Patches’ Knights, Zamfir ‘Man Zangie’ Adams, Lornette ‘Fya Empress’ Nedd, Shaunelle Mc Kenzie, Grantley ‘Ipa’ Constance, Vivian ‘I-Come’ Miller, Elvis ‘Abijah’ Abbey, Aurella ‘Queen B’ Beache, Kenneth ‘Vibrating Scakes’ Alleyne and Dennis Bowman.

“I wish everyone good luck and while there can be only one winner, it is important to note that all of you have contributed significantly to Carnival and your art form,” said London-Williams.
