Miss Carival girls are here!
The 10 contestants in the Miss Carival pageant are now all in the state, and will this morning participate in a ceremony during breakfast at the Young Island Resort.{{more}}
The event, which begins at 8 a.m., includes briefing, sashing, exchange of gifts among contestants and presentation of gift baskets by the Beauty Shows Committee. Members of the media will meet with contestants and their chaperones immediately after breakfast.
The contestants are Miss Antigua and Barbuda Raynel Carrol; Miss Barbados Zhane Padmore; Miss Dominica Francine Baron; Miss Guyana Kiswana Jefford; Miss Jamaica Danielle Black; Miss Martinique Alexandra Chastel; Miss St Kitts and Nevis Kaeve Armstrong; Miss St Lucia Amy Stephen, Miss Venezuela Genesis Valera Seijas and Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines Shadeisha George.
Later today, the contestants will participate in live television and radio interviews and will make a guest appearance at the Junior Calypso and Soca Monarch competition at Victoria Park at 5:30 p.m.
Tomorrow, the contestants will visit business houses in Kingstown from 10 a.m. to 11.50 a.m.
Antigua and Barbuda will be hosted by Coreas City Store, Barbados by E.D. Layne and Sons Ltd, Dominica by St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ltd, Guyana by St Vincent Building and Loan Association, Jamaica by Fragrances and First Caribbean International Bank, Martinique by the National Lotteries Authority, St Kitts and Nevis by C.D. Veira Ltd and the Bank of Nova Scotia, St Lucia by the Bank of SVG (Reigate) and Save A Lot, Venezuela by Bank of SVG (Bedford Street) and St Vincent and the Grenadines by RBTT Bank Caribbean Ltd and Courts St Vincent Ltd.
Members of Cabinet will meet the contestants at 12 noon on Wednesday, after which the delegates will take part in a motorcade from Victoria Park, beginning at 3 p.m. The motorcade will make two blocks around Kingstown, then drive to Calliaqua and end at Young Island Resorts Ltd.
On Thursday, July 3, the contestants will be taken on a scenic drive along the Windward coast, where the St Vincent Distillers Ltd in Georgetown will again host them for another year. They will also be given the opportunity to see the Argyle international airport under construction. This will be followed by a photo shoot at Buccament Bay Resort Ltd at 3.30 p.m., and a guest appearance at Steel and Glitter at 9.30 p.m.
The show will take place on Friday, July 4 at 8 p.m. at the Victoria Park.
The winner of Miss Carival will receive US $4,300.00, the 1st runner-up US $1,300.00 and the 2nd runner-up US $700.00. All contestants will receive gifts from the business houses in SVG.
