During Latin Fiesta Weekend, Vincentians, along with 27 St Lucians from the Exposé Latin Dance Academy, participated in a number of Latin dance workshops at Prospect Racquet Club, conducted by St Lucia’s “Salsa Queen” Stacy Nelson.

The workshops focused on techniques for beginners in Angolan dance – Kizomba, Bachata from the Dominican Republic, classic Salsa and Salsa Rueda (an exciting group dance that involves instructions and switching partners mid-dance). It also featured advanced demonstrations of dances by Exposé Academy dancers.

The weekend culminated in an All-White Party at Flow Wine Bar with the presentation of certificates and performances to a packed house.

According to Anton Jardine, president of LPSVG, “I was pleased with the response and hope we continue to grow and attract more overseas groups to come to SVG. It has great growth potential for tourism, if we can host groups several times per year. As a matter of fact Exposé Academy wants this to be an annual event for them to attend.”

While in SVG, members of Exposé St Lucia did an overland tour to Fort Charlotte and also spent a day in Bequia on the beach and visiting sites like the fort and Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary.

LPSVG members had taken part in Trinidad’s Salsa Fiesta at the end of May. “That Fiesta Weekend hosts almost 300 participants from around the Caribbean, with international guest instructors like Vera Rowe and Uriel Garcia from Florida, Paulina Posada & David Zepeda from Mexico, Tito Ortos and Tamara Livolsi from Puerto Rico, Nelson Flores and Veronica Castillo from New York and Davina and Marchant Birch from London. We hope to grow it to this level or bigger.”

LPSVG Fiesta Weekend was made possible with the assistance of  Presidente Beer, Bay Hill Guest House, GECCU Ltd, Francis Catering Services, St Vincent Distillers Ltd, Kim Haydock Gun-Munro, Ricardo and Michelle Adams, Cuthbert Tucker, Raffique Fitzpatrick, Kimya Glasgow, Erica McIntosh and Flow Wine Bar.
