‘Blaxx’ to ride on Guinness truck Carnival Monday
Trinidadian soca artiste Dexter âBlaxxâ Stewart will join local artistes like âRoyalâ and âProblem Childâ among others on board the St Vincent Breweryâs big black Guinness branded truck on Carnival Monday.{{more}}
Blaxx, who is described as a man of the people, is 50 years old and has been in the soca business for over 20 years, having performed with a number of bands, namely Succession Brass, Upstream, Atlantik and Blue Ventures before joining the Roy Cape All Stars.
His first big soca hit was his 2007 song âDutty,â while he has taken 2014 by storm with âLeh go,â which was a song in the finals of Trinidadâs soca monarch competition.
Blaxx will perform alongside a host of local superstar artistes and DJs, including the Hyperactive Movement, Simple Sounds, DJ Kal, DJ Tarrus and the Energy Squad (DJ Captain Jon and Columbian). Live performances will also be given by âDJ 20â and Keith Currency, among others.
Meanwhile persons who âWant more from your Carnival Monday T-Shirt band,â according to Marketing assistant at the Brewery Caricia Taylor, should join Guinness and the St Vincent Brewery Ltd, as for the first time ever they will be joining the Monday T-Shirt band street party, which this year is scheduled for July 7.
The band, which is being called âThe Guinness Posse T-Shirt Bandâ¦from the stands to the streets,â has as its slogan âWe have one big bad black truck on the road.â
Explaining what persons will get when they join the Guinness Monday T-Shirt band Taylor said that there are three packages being offered for the band that is expected to hit the road at 2 p.m. and leave the streets at 10 p.m.
Taylor said that the first package is called the âMoreâ package which sells for EC$35 (early bird) and gives persons an unlimited amount of free Guinness (Bottomless Pit Free) and other drinks from the St Vincent Brewery. The âMoreâ package also provides a Guinness memorabilia reusable party bottle, a temporary tattoo, a T-shirt, Guinness popsicle, Guinness slammer (Guinness mixed drink), bandana, snacks and a safety pack.
The second package is called âThe Even Moreâ package and also gives persons an unlimited amount of free Guinness, other drinks from the St Vincent Brewery, Guinness memorabilia reusable party bottle, a temporary tattoo, Guinness slammer, a bandana and a safety pack. Taylor said that âThe Even Moreâ slogan comes in as for EC$75 it gives persons the option to design their own Guinness T-shirt, receive premium snacks, Mount Gay rum cocktails, Guinness Power shots (Guinness mixed drink) and camel packs at a discounted price.
The third package costs EC$180 and is called the âFrontlineâ package. This package gives you everything in the âEven Moreâ set-up but also gives the ladies the choice of partying in a mono-kini (one piece bathing suit), a twopiece bathing suit or a high waist costume instead of a T-shirt.
