So says chair of the CDC Dennis Ambrose, who earlier this month, pleaded with the Government to assist the CDC in clearing a $250,000 deficit left from Vincy Mas 2013.
It would seem that Ambroseâs pleas have been answered, as on Tuesday, while speaking at a press conference, he expressed thanks to the Government for âintervening to assist the CDC with meeting some of its principal commitments.â
âThe Government remains one of our major partners in the financial stake of this national cultural festival. We wish to reaffirm that those persons whose monies are outstanding for 2013, the CDC has been given the assurance that this will be dealt with in due course,â the chair said.
Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil McKie also spoke briefly in relation to the deficit.
Making reference to Ambroseâs remarks, McKie highlighted the importance of continued communication between the Government, the Ministry, CDC and all of its components.
âI think we would have resolved those particular issues and pretty soon the mechanisms will be in place to allow CDC to settle the outstanding debts that would have been carried over from 2013 and allow us to move smoothly into the festival for 2014,â the Minister said. (BK)
