Carriere placed second in the 2012 competition, behind Stubbs, but according to Jennifer Richardson-Herbert, they are ready to reclaim the title that they have won on four previous occasions.
“So, we are working extremely hard,” she said.
While speaking at the official launch of the activity last Friday, Richardson assured patrons that they can anticipate some of the old unique traditions, but some new attractions have been added for the 2013 season.
Richardson explained that she did not want to expose too much, except to say that the public will not be disappointed.
On December 21, there will be an ecumenical service, led by Bishop Sonny Williams.
She said that this activity is in honour of the 100th year of the Nine Morning celebrations.
“And because this is a celebration that surrounds Christmas, we will be putting one morning aside to focus entirely on Christ,” Richardson said.
She continued, saying that there would also be the introduction of a sports morning.
“So, if you feel athletic, come on out and have some fun,” she said.
There will also be other fun and exciting attractions, she said.
And while the goal for the members of the committee was to take back the Nine Mornings title, she warned that it was not only about competition.
“Whether we win or not, it’s cool with us.”
“We just want people to come out and support,” Richardson said. (DD)
