The show, slated to begin at 6 p.m., will feature performances by the South East Steel Orchestra, the New Dimension Steel Orchestra and this yearâs 2012 Junior Soca Monarch Otis âFlipperâ Caine.
The band, which celebrated its 32nd year of existence in March of this year, hopes to bring something new and extraordinary to the public and promises to make the evening as exciting as pan can be, a release from the organizers said.
âOver the years the Potential Steel Orchestra has been able to incorporate various art forms into the steel pan music and continues to show how versatile this art can be. It has previously provided back-up music for various local artistes such as Cornelius âPoorsahâ Williams, performed plays, dances, and the like. This year the show would feature a new segment: âExtempo,â the release said.
The Potential Steel Orchestra has, for years, been one of St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ leading steel orchestras. It placed 3rd in this yearâs Senior Panorama Competition, and has never fallen below that mark.
âWe at the Potential Steel Orchestra continue, no matter the obstacles, to keep the art form alive and strong in this country,â the release said.
