Twenty-two Calypsonians clash tonight in the 2012 Calypso Semi-Finals

Twenty-two Calypsonians will clash tonight at the Victoria Park, where the Calypso Semi-Finals are scheduled to take place.{{more}}

Leading the pack is the On Tour Calypso Tent with seven picks, including three former Calypso Monarchs: Elvis ‘Abijah’ Abbey, Grantley ‘Ipa’ Constance and Kenneth ‘Vibrating Scakes’ Alleyne.

The other semi-finalists from the On Tour Calypso tent are Bernard ‘Reality’ White, Alvin ‘Zion I’ Dennie, Glenford ‘Azara’ Charles and Aurella ‘Queen B’ Beache.

The Upstage Calypso Tent has five picks for tonight’s event, including former Monarchs Cornelius ‘Poorsah’ Williams and Bridgette ‘Joy C’ Creese, Shernelle ‘Skarpyon’ Williams, Best New Calypso winner Fitzroy ‘Brother Ebony’ Joseph and Lornette ‘Fire Empress’ Nedd.

Zamfir ‘Man Zangie’ Adams, Kingsley ‘Hero’ Roberts, Sonny ‘Sunny Banks’ Young and Glen ‘Bump I’ Richards have been selected from the Graduates Calypso Tent.

And from the Marriaqua Valley, Javelle ‘Dia’ Frank, Elliott ‘Mystery’ Shallow and Jerome ‘Parry’ Samuel represent the P’tani Calypso tent.

Finally, three have been selected from the Dynamites Calypso tent in New York, including Carlos ‘Rejector’ Providence, former monarch, Paul ‘I-Madd’ Scrubb and Anthony ‘Ras X’ Soleyn.

The reserves are Noel ‘Defoe’ Castello and Glenroy ‘Sulle’ Caesar.

Ten finalists will be selected to come up against the reigning Calypso Monarch Maxwell ‘Tajo’ Francis in the finals at the Dimanche Gras show, slated for July 8 at the Victoria Park.
