Nine Countries for Miss Carival 2009

Nine overseas countries have registered to participate in this year’s MISS CARIVAL pageant which will be held at the Victoria Park on Friday July 3rd 2009 at 8:00 p.m.{{more}}

Six countries have so far provided the names of contestants: Anguilla – Fanny Richardson; Antigua and Barbuda – Derri Ann Browne; Dominica- Kayann Toussaint; Dominican Republic- Seila Subervi; St. Kitts and Nevis – Samantha Boone; Venezuela – Deyanira Morales.

Contestants and their chaperones will arrive in the state on the airline of the Pageant LIAT (1974) Ltd. on Tuesday June 30th 2009 and leave on Saturday July 4th 2009.

SVG will be represented by Veronique Williams, MISS SVG 2009.

Young Island Resorts Ltd. will provide accommodation for contestants and their chaperones at concessionary rates as they have done for several years.

A programme of activities is being finalized for contestants. This will include a briefing and sashing ceremony, meeting the media, a visit to the Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet, a motorcade around Kingstown, a visit to business houses in Kingstown, live radio interviews, open interview session, attendance at Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) shows and dress rehearsals.

The MISS CARIVAL pageant was first staged in SVG in 1985 and so far 6 Vincentians have won the coveted title. Ronique Dellimore of SVG is the reigning MISS CARIVAL 2008. The winner of MISS CARIVAL 2009 will receive USD $4,300 from the CDC, the 1st Runner-up USD$1,300 and the 2nd Runner-up USD$700 along with gifts from local business houses.
