On Saturday, May 31st, the Miss SVG pageant will be hosted by duo E.B John and Nicky Crosby. As promised by Chairperson of the Beauty Shows Committee Cheryl Rodriguez, there will be fewer guest artistes performing than in previous years. They will include Starlift Steel Orchestra, Calypso Monarch 2007 Vibrating Skates, Best New Song (Calypso) winner 2008, Sulle; Best New Song (Soca) winner 2008, Zoelah and Skarpyan. Despite all the hard work, there are still some final activities in which they participate. Apart from making an appearance at the South Windward Queen Show at Biabou tonight, May 23rd, the contestants will be taking part in a Leeward Road trip tomorrow, May 24th, which will leave from the Peace Memorial Hall at 9 a.m. From May 25th until May 29th, the young women will partake of their final coaching in interview and stage training, and dress rehearsal.
The official motorcade around Kingstown will take place on Friday, May 30th, at 3pm, culminating in, what Chairperson Cheryl Rodriguez promises to be a much improved and exciting competition on the following day.
The public is encouraged to come out and support their favourite contestants. Tickets are on sale from the Carnival Development Corporation and cost $25 for regular stands and $35 for the reserved stand. (JSV)
