Youngsters hit Calypso stage
Two youngsters, Zamfir âMan Zangieâ Adams and Shazique âPrincess Shazâ John, will have a double crack at royalty at this yearâs Carnival celebrations.
Man Zangie, a Bethel High School student, and Princess Shaz from the Dr. J. P. Eustace Secondary are in the Calypso and the Junior Soca Monarch finals.{{more}}
They will be challenged in the Soca clash by St. Vincent Boys Grammar Schoolâs Desron âProjec Boyâ John, Ryan âInfernoâ Abraham, Cheno âRyceâ Baptiste, and Ashaman âTweeterâ Duncan. The other Soca finalists are Affia âTSâ Gurley from Bethel High School, and Jamella âMellaâ Williams from St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua.
Last yearâs Primary monarch Franecia âSinging Franeciaâ Glasgow will be testing her skills at the secondary level representing Girlsâ High School. The others in the Calypso category are North Unionâs Jolene âPrincess Joleneâ Bentick, Renecia âSinging Reneâ Louie from Dr. J. P. Eustace, Desron âPompeyâ from Kingstown Multi-Purpose, St. Josephâs Convent Marriaquaâs Camesha âSinging Meshaâ Hunter, and Georgetown Secondaryâs Veron Nickie.
There will be a new Primary School monarch. The combatants are Jasian âSigning Jassyâ Gardner from Belair Government, Calder Primaryâs trio of Latifah âSinging Lefeyâ Richards, Donella âSinging DPâ Power, C.W. Prescodâs Amunik âLittle Nickyâ Martin and Joelicia Tash, Iran Pompey from Sandy Bay Primary, Shafel Cruickshank from Lowmans Leeward and Park Hill Governmentâs Ackelia Cornwall.
