Calypsonians clash – New song competition this weekend
Three calypsonians have made history by appearing in both the Soca and Calypso categories of the Carnival Development Committeeâs New Song Competition on Saturday, May 6, at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park. {{more}}
The lucky three performers are Glenroy âSulleâ Caesar, Vincent âGroovy Dâ Kennedy and Dereck âMan Sickâ Alexander.
The other finalists in the calypso category are Ronald âRon Bâ Browne, Noel âDe Foeâ Castello and Marlon âGamsâ Williams, who will all be coming up against the 2005 champion, Fitzroy âBrother Ebonyâ Joseph.
The other artistes who will be coming up against the 2005 New Song Soca Monarch, Aretha Shallow, are Aubrey âIshack-Iâ Dember, the lone duo Rohan âMintâ Martin and Chaka Hazelwood and lawyer turned singer Lyndon George.
The Carnival Development Committeeâs Best New Song Competition will take place at the Chamber of Commerce Car Park, from 5 pm.
