Sir Mick Jagger part of 10th Anniversary album

Basil Charles, owner of the famous Basil’s Bar of Mustique, announced on Monday that early sales of the newly released 10th Anniversary Mustique Blues Festival CD were brisk.

“For our 10th Basil’s Bar Mustique Blues Festival, we wanted something very special, and we got help from a friend,” said Charles.

“On the closing night of the Blues Festival, long time resident and resident of Mustique Sir Mick Jagger, agreed to perform.” Jagger performed two blues songs and his signature: Honky Tonk Woman at the show, and generously agreed to let the blues songs be recorded and released. Charles explained that Jagger’s interest in education is longstanding, as it was he and Jagger who established the Mustique Educational trust with Lady Ouida Touche nearly 20 years ago.

That Educational trust not only runs the pre school and primary schools of Mustique, but also offers the highly successful Adult Education programs in Information Technology and has launched an adult literacy program in concert with the Ministry of Education’s Literacy Crusade.

“It was a thrill for all of us on stage at Basil’s that night,” added Dana Gillespie – headliner of the Mustique Blues Festival and co-creator and artist director of the annual festival.

The eleventh Mustique Blues Festival will be held at Basil’s Bar January 18 through February 1, 2006.
