Worried I’m not good enough

Hey Rosie,

I do like to read your column on a weekly basis and the advice you give. I have met someone online; we text and email often and will meet soon. He has a good job, but with his qualifications, I am not sure if I am good enough for him. How do you think I can take this to the next level? We will be meeting soon.{{more}}

Wondering

Dear Wondering,

Never second guess yourself. You are going to have to be exactly who you are and not a made up persona.

These days when we meet people online, we can pretend to be someone totally different from who we are. This is not a good thing, because when the time comes to meet that person, it’s difficult to live up to the lies.

Bearing in mind you don’t know if he’s telling the truth about himself, my suggestion is that you take your time to get to know him and he you. I wouldn’t worry about your qualifications or lack thereof; it’s about being your authentic self.

Remember this is not the end of the world; it’s either you make a good friend, or someone whom you can build a relationship with or maybe he might not be all that he’s cracked up to be and you would have to walk away. So, baby steps and be careful please. All the best.

Rosie
