Relationship warning signs
Hello Everyone,
This weekâs column is going to be a little different. Letâs call it the âRelationship Warning Signsâ. If you answer âyesâ to more than one of these questions, you are possibly in a domestic violence relationship, so take heed please:
Do you feel nervous around him/her?
Do you have to change or modify your behaviour to avoid his/her anger?
Do you feel pressured to have sex with him/her?
Are you scared of disagreeing with him/her?
Does he/she criticize or humiliate you in front of others?
Is he/she ALWAYS checking up on you or questioning you when you are not together?
Does he/she repeatedly and wrongly accuse you of having sex with others?
Does he/she tell you if YOU changed he/she wouldnât abuse you?
Does his/her jealousy stop you from seeing friends or family?
Does he/she make you seem like you are wrong, crazy, stupid or inadequate?
Has he/she ever scared you with violence or threatening behaviour?
Do you often do things to please him/her rather than yourself?
Does he/she prevent you from going out to do things that you enjoy or want to do?
Does he/she make you feel that nothing you do is good enough?
Does he/she say that he/she will hurt himself/herself or kill himself /herself if you break up with him/her?
Does he/she say that he/she will hurt YOU or kill YOU if you break up with him/her?
Does he/she make excuses for his/her abusive behaviour by blaming alcohol or drugs?
Does he/her say that he/she canât control his/her temper?
If any of these are true signs in your life realize one thing: you CANNOT change your partner/spouse/lover. HE/SHE is the one who will have to want to change. You must protect yourself at all costs. Please be safe and keep these tips as a guide.
Blessings to all,
Rosie
