This isn’t a good setup, choose!
Dear Rosie,
I read your articles every week and think you will be good to give me some advice.
I am a beautiful and attractive young lady. I have a boyfriend and we have been together for a long time now, very long. He makes me happy and I make him happy, but I recently began to talk to this other guy and itâs like Iâm more attracted to him than my boyfriend.{{more}} We talk good together, we laugh together and stuff, and I think Iâve fallen IN LOVE with him. I love my boyfriend and donât want to hurt his feelings in anyway, but this guy has me going crazy. I think of him each day and canât get him off my mind. Iâm not a two-guy girl, but I canât get over this other guy. What should I do? Does this call trouble or what? Tell me please.
Lost and Confused
Dear Lost and Confused,
This is a situation that many people find themselves in. You are caught in the middle of a love triangle. Being attracted to different people at the same time is tricky and sometimes dangerous. However, I donât get the impression that you set out for this to happen.
Having said this, what are you going to do? I suspect you are getting different emotional needs met from each guy. Your longtime love may be a comfortable spot in your life. Someone who knows how to make you laugh, can understand what makes you sad and possibly gets along with your family and friends. Therefore he is, Mr. Comfortable.
Then bachelor #2 is new and exciting. When you see him, your hearts starts to beat a little faster. You canât wait to hear his voice and the sweet nothings he has to say to you. He may also be a secret to most of the people around you, and this is also another exciting element as well for you. But I am here to let you know that this isnât a good setup. This can end badly if you arenât careful.
As you already know, you will have to make a decision, a choice if you will. This two-guy situation canât keep happening. The question is: âWho do you choose?â This is 100% your call. Do you pick Mr. Comfortable who you may consider a good friend, almost like family? Or do you pick Bachelor #2? The guy who in your words has you âgoing crazyâ? Clear your head and see who really fills your checklist. It is the more decent thing to make some sort of choice. Who knows, you may not pick any and you may realize that you should just date different people. Getting to know them and letting everyone know that you are not in a place in your life for a commitment.
Whatever it is you decide, remember a choice should be made. You owe it to these guys and more importantly, you owe it to yourself. Once this is done, the burden will be lifted off your shoulders and you will not be Lost and Confused anymore. In the words of Spike Lee, â Do the Right Thing!â All the best to you.
