VincyMas to blast off at New Venue
VincyMas 2025 is set to be launched on May, 10, 2025 at a new venue- the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport , and will be promoted “as a big-budget production-style launch”.
Word of this was revealed at a press conference held by the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) at Sandals St Vincent Resort last Tuesday, April, 8, 2025.
Newly appointed CEO of the CDC, Rodney Small, outlining the calendar of events noted that there will be some changes.
Small explained that the Tarmac will have sections featuring different elements of traditional VincyMas; a section for private promoters and sponsors; along with the main area where the launch event will take place.
“At the official launch of carnival, you’re going to see an entire production that gives us the picture and a reflection of who we are and what is to come for the ten days of carnival … It’s going to be driven by a lot of technology, production elements, a lot of vibes— you name it and it is there.”
Small who was installed as CEO in March of this year, had promised that VincyMas 2025 will have a facelift, but they would not be dispensing with the traditional elements of the festival.
He outlined at the press conference that on the night before the launch, he and others will be going around Kingstown to “shed some light on our cultural identity, so the general public can look out for that”.
The next ‘new’ development will be the return of Soca and Ragga semi-finals on Sunday, June 22.
“This is also a daytime event where you can bring the entire family, bring your cooler, bring your chairs … that is also happening at the southern end of the tarmac,” Small explained.
