Death of two-year-old girl under investigation
The death of a two-year-old child here last year, is now under serious investigation, after videos and photos recently surfaced on social media sites showing incidents of abuse of the child.
Speaking on NBC radio on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves said Minister of National Mobilization, Keisal Peters spoke to him about the death of a child, and she had “drawn the matter to the attention of the police superintendent who is responsible for these issues”.
Without giving details about the matter, the Prime Minister said the police will decide what is required to be done.
SEARCHLIGHT understands that the child was named Kizzy, and she died in November, 2024.
The two-year-old is said to have died at her home in a community on the Windward end of the mainland.
The toddler, is reported to have been seen in hospital on November 9, 2024, and had also been admitted to a hospital in 2023.
A relative, who lives abroad, indicated that she had been told by a health care worker told that the child was showing signs of abuse and malnourishment. The relative told SEARCHLIGHT that while in St Vincent in November, 2023, she had made a report to a government agency after seeing videos of the child being abused, and there are claims that “the system” has failed the child.
