Vincentian policeman among 4 charged in St Lucia drug bust

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, an intelligence-driven operation conducted between Sandy Beach and Savannes Bay, Vieux-Fort, St Lucia resulted in the arrest of four Vincentian nationals. These four individuals were intercepted while disembarking from an unregistered blue and white fishing vessel. They allegedly were found in possession of suspected controlled drugs and other restricted imports.

One of the four Vincentians arrested is a police officer who has since been identified as Corporal (acting) Colin Stay.

In a video presentation on the issue, Inspector Shervon Matthieu who is in charge of the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, Southern Extension, of the St Lucia Police Force said, “While on site, officers from the Customs, Immigration, along with officers from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit conducted preliminary investigations.

“The four suspects were transported to the Vieux-Fort Police Station, where they were formally informed of their rights. All four suspects – namely Lamar Spooner, Colin Stay, Desron Cooper, and Deno Lewis were formally charged with possession of controlled drugs, and possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another by the investigators from the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit – Southern Extension.”
