Adventist Youths march and rally against crime and violence
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Mission of Seventh-day Adventists Youth Department organized a march and rally against crime and violence as part of the church’s Global Youth Day on March 15, 2025. The march, which commenced at around 4:00 p.m. from the Anglican Church car park, ended at Heritage Square with the rally. The march took the participants through Rose Place and Paul’s Avenue, two of the most troubled communities in the city.
“We’re having Global Youth Day today … We have Global Youth Day every year. It’s where we impact our communities. Throughout St Vincent and Grenadines, we have different churches in their zone impacting their community. Today we’re doing it in an enlarged way,” President of the Adventist Youth Ministries Advisory Council, Camille Soleyn told SEARCHLIGHT.
“What we recognized, last year we had an upsurge in crime especially amongst young people, and we thought of what we can do to supplement what we’ve done in the past with our communities.”
Solelyn said the different groups were asked to make suggestions and this led to the afternoon’s event.
Responding to a question about the anticipated results of these efforts, Soleyn said, “We do have work in different ministries. We have different ministries going to different areas in the community, but our intervention as it is, is prevention. If we can bring awareness to testimonies, to experiences, persons would have given their experience with crime and how it doesn’t pay. That is what we’re looking at … we want persons not to start”.
