Gibson Corner man gets multiple sentences for stealing retired officer’s cell phone
A Gibson Corner man, who brought a retired police officer to tears after causing him to spend one month, including his birthday, without a cellphone was sentenced for theft.
Lee-I Wilkins, 43, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie yesterday, March, 3, 2025 where he pleaded guilty that on January, 27, 2025 at Kingstown he stole one black Samsung Galaxy A03s cellular phone valued at EC$399; one Flow sim card valued at EC$75; and one black cellular phone case valued at EC$40, total value $514, the property of Culson Browne of Arnos Vale.
The facts are that about 6:30 p.m, on the day in question Browne went to Biker Bar located on Tyrell Street, Kingstown, with his cellular phone to play pool.
Browne placed the phone on a ledge at the pool area inside the bar and began playing along with Wilkins. Browne later left the bar and walked in the vicinity of the Yankee’s shop on Higginson Street.
There, he checked his person and discovered that his cellular phone was missing. Browne immediately turned around and went back to the bar where he made checks and questioned employees about his missing cellular phone.
He then enquired, and was shown footage from the bar’s CCTV system.
The former lawman observed on the footage that Wilkins had taken his phone from the ledge and placed it in one of his pockets.
