Multiple complaints of Whatsapp sexually suggestive groups with pre-teens
In St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) several WhatsApp groups exist where it appears that sexual grooming of under-aged children is taking place.
According to WebMD, sexual grooming is when a sexual predator builds a relationship with a child or adult to abuse and exploit them. It can occur in various settings, including online, in person, and through other means of communication.
Last Tuesday February 25, SEARCHLIGHT published an article with the headline, “WhatsApp group with sexual content and underage children” and shortly after, several messages were sent to SEARCHLIGHT via WhatsApp with the names of different WhatsApp groups where under-aged males and females are mixed with adults and are taking part in conversations of a sexual nature.
Several of these groups also seem to share locally made sex tapes and other pornographic material which are being seen by primary school children.
A Facebook comment under last Tuesday’s headline from someone with the Facebook name J’onathan Mayers’ reads, “I was a young teen when (name company) now buss and I had one of them Nokia 3310 and (company) had a text chatroom where all sort of slackness been ah talk if I remember correctly. This is not nothing new”.
A screenshot from one of the groups sent to SEARCHLIGHT has the name “Way alyo geh fu say” and has as a disclaimer, “Hello there, identify yourselves on joining failure to do so gets instant remove. Pics, videos and images must be send in one view…understand. Porn allowed feel free. Don’t inbox anybody in the group without their permission or u will be removed”.
