Opposition MP: ‘Rats chasing children out of Stoney Ground School’

Rats seem to have infested another school in Kingstown, exposing students and staff to possible health hazards.

This was a concern expressed by opposition Member of Parliament, Daniel Cummings as he spoke at a political meeting on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

The meeting of the New Democratic Party (NDP) was held in Kingstown Park, in the constituency of Central Kingstown, which is represented in Parliament by Major St Clair Leacock.

During his address, Cummings said the situation is now so bad that “rats chasing the children out of Stoney Ground School”, which is formally known as the Kingstown Government School, located at Stoney Grounds.

Cummings raised concerns about students and teachers becoming ill or even dying if they contract leptospirosis from coming into contact with the urine of the rodents.
