Ormiston ‘Ken’ Boyea to be accorded official funeral

Former businessman and politician, Ormiston ‘Ken’ Boyea,who died on News Year’s Day, January 1, 2025, is to be given an official funeral.

In Parliament last week, Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves made the announcement of the official funeral for Boyea, which was still in its planning stage.

Gonsalves was speaking during the period of congratulations and condolences in Parliament last Thursday, January 9, 2025.

He publicly expressed condolences to Boyea’s widow, Shanda, and other family members on the death of the outstanding Vincentian.

The Prime Minister said Boyea, who was 87, and his first cousin “had a very good innings, and we thank him very much.”

Boyea represented the constituency of Central Kingstown, elected on a Unity Labour Party (ULP) ticket, serving as a Member of Parliament from 1998-2001.

“A grateful people will accord an official funeral for him,” Gonsalves stated.

He indicated that the funeral details are being finalized between the Cabinet Secretary and members of Boyea’s family.

Parliament observed a minute’s silence in respect of the former politician and businessman.
