Former Vincentian Policeman charged for alleged use of false passport
A former member of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, now a resident businessman in Canada, has been arrested and charged for allegedly using a fake Bahamian passport at the Argyle International Airport to enter St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Maxroy Campbell, 38 years old, who hails from Mt Greenan and Georgetown, was charged with using a false instrument, and attempted forgery. It is alleged that on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Argyle International Airport, Campbell used a false Bahamian passport, knowing or believing it to be false, with the intention of inducing an immigration officer to accept it as genuine.
He was further charged with attempting to commit forgery by performing an act more than merely preparatory to the commission of the offence. Appearing before Senior Magistrate, Colin John, at the Serious Offences Court, Kingstown, on Friday December 27, 2024, Campbell pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He was granted bail in the sum of EC$10,000 with one surety. Stop notices were also ordered placed at all ports of entry and exit. The court also ordered Campbell to surrender all travel documents, and the matter was adjourned to Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Campbell may also face other charges, as the Vincentian investigators are looking into how he was able to obtain other travel documents which allegedly were found in his possession at the time he was detained and his subsequent arrest.
